picture of the week

So, Robbie Cooper, a photographer, has taken pictures of people who play video games and their respective avatars. While not specifically puppet related, it's interesting to think of someone's altar egos on the pixelated screen as resembling them so much and yet so little.

This boy's photo struck me especially.

The number of hours per week spent in character is a fascinating piece of data to me. In looking at that slideshow, I found myself trying to track a relationship between how similar/dissimilar an avatar was in appearance to a player with how much/little they played each week. There didn't really seem to be any correspondence, but I just kept looking out for it...

yeah, i mostly looked at types of people who might play more: guys in highschool who have a lot of time to blow, for example... i dunno, stereotypical, but it seemed to play out that way.
